. . . extremely well suited to the times--not just in its recognition of the dangers and difficulties we face, but in its frank acknowledgement of how far astray we have gone. For the first time in a long, long time we've heard a presidential address that is short on bombast, self-congratulation, and hubris, and long on humility, honesty, and a bracing sense of challenge.
I was hoping to be impressed, and I was.
This inaugural address was incredibly inspiring. It made me guilty to have eschewed governmental service. I hope young people who are contemplating a career will also be inspired,as it seems that a generation of smart people have been lost to ibanking and other lucrative careers. I hope service careers will again be considered attractive to the most talented.

I think it was impressive in the right way, too. There were some nice moments, but it wasn't rhetorically moving the way some other of his speeches have been, which I think was exactly the right thing to do. He said what needed to be said, and he said it in a way that didn't detract from the seriousness of his message.
